How I Got Started

I used to be a member and actor of a theatre organization in Gulfport, Mississippi called WINGS Performing Arts. There, after hearing I won an unrelated Scratch Coding contest, the Middle School Director, Melanie Kidd, offered me to learn the MyDMX 3.0 system they have at the organization. After that, I designed my first show, Hayes' High, under the guidance of Sarah Grammar. With that, I fell in love with Lighting

When I moved to Gulfport High School, I wanted to learn the light board of the Admiral Theatre, the ETC Element; and thus, I took a workshop with the previous theatre teacher, Mr. Hart. From there, I learned the Ins-and-Outs of the EOS Systems. After graduating, I got my first gig in Kiln, MS, working for Alpha and Omega Sound and Productions as a Lighting Designer.

For a year, after that, I attended The University of Mississippi, Ole Miss, where I minored in technical theatre. There, I took a class called Basic Lighting and Sound Technologies (BLAST) with Annalise Caudle and Jeffery Hannah as instructors. Additionally, I also was a Deck Electrician, a Board Operator, and a "L2." I later left Ole Miss because I found a better calling back in Gulfport.

Later, I joined the Live Entertainment CTE Program at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, learning the ChamSys systems and busking techniques. Additionally, I also learned the intricacies of Audio Engineering on the Behringer X32 Compact, and DiGiCo SD9 and S31 consoles, as well as various analogue ones.

In October 2024, I became so invested in live lighting that I signed up for a two day training course for the ETC/High-End Hog 4 series, in Orlando, FL. After that, and after my courses at MGCCC, I eventually got a job at the tallest building in Mississippi: the Beau Rivage (MGM Subsidiary), as an on-call Stagehand and GrandMA2/3 trainee!
